Minister Han Changfu met with Mr. Dan J?rgensen, Minister for Food, Agriculture and Fisheries of Denmark (FVM) in Beijing on April 24th, 2014. The two sides exchanged views on furthering China-Denmark agricultural cooperation.

During the meeting, Minister Han spoke highly of the bilateral agricultural cooperation between China and Denmark. Highly complementary to each other in agriculture, the two countries enjoy great cooperation potential and share common interest in further promoting cooperation in agriculture.

Minister Han put forward four suggestions for future cooperation:

First, the two sides shall hold the 2nd China-Denmark Agricultural Working Group (AWG) Meeting in China this year to map out a workplan and work out its implementation measures for future cooperation.

Second, China supports Denmark to establish the China-Denmark Swine Demonstration Farm in China to display the state-of-the-art technology and facilities of swine production in Denmark and serve as an important platform for livestock cooperation between China and Denmark.

Third, the two sides shall convene the Sino-Danish Roundtable Conference on Pig Industry to boost cooperation in the private sector.

Fourth, the two sides shall hold the first China-Denmark Veterinary Working Group Meeting for experience-sharing and policy communication on animal disease control.

J?rgensen fully agreed with Minister Han's suggestions. He expressed his wish to enhance down-to-earth cooperation with China in dairy industry, organic farming and biomass energy.

Mr. Bi Meijia, MOA Chief Economist and Director-General of General Office, attended the meeting.
